Our Staff

Gary Wertz, Optician

Gary has been an Optician since 1972 and has been working at Scarbrough Family Eyecare for 14 years.  He is available to our patients to help them with frame selection, repairs and ordering new glasses.  He is originally from Wisconsin and is an avid Green Bay Packer fan (Cheesehead).  Gary has lived in Traverse City for 35 years and enjoys many of the beautiful golf courses in the area.  He is married to Gail and together they enjoy their pet cats.

Alice Belknap

Since Alice has been here longer than the owner, Dr. Ed, you might say that we inherited her.  We are very happy to have her with us, as she is an insurance billing wiz.  Alice spent years in Williamsburg raising her family and working on the farm selling apples.  She has worked in other office settings.  Alice graduated from U of M with a fine arts degree and still enjoys painting, arts and crafts, sewing and reading.  She has lived in Traverse City with her husband George for 14 years.

Pennie O'Brien

Being the only Traverse City native in the office, Pennie has also been here at Scarbrough Family Eyecare longer than the doctor.  She is an indispensable asset as she is responsible for most of the clerical business.  Pennie and her husband Pat have raised two children and now enjoy their time walking the family dog.  She also enjoys reading, skiing, biking and going to the beach.

Pam Pargeon

With her ever present smile, Pam, is the receptionist at our office and has been welcoming our patients for over 15 years.  Before coming here, Pam worked as a bookkeeper.  She is originally from Grand Rapids, but has enjoyed living in Maple City for the past 35 years where she and her husband raised their two children.  Pam has many hobbies that include reading, sewing, gardening, biking, crafts and walking her dog.
